Will that repair be cost effective? The number-one area for leaks is the evaporative coil, which is the coil in your heat pump air handler or mounted on your gas furnace. Very rarely is the leak repairable. Normally, you will need to replace the coil. What must be considered is the age of the system. The question is whether you want to repair an older system that uses R22 refrigerant or would you be better served by putting that money toward a new system that uses R410A refrigerant.
If there is no remaining warranty on your equipment. You might be better served to upgrade your system and convert to a R410A refrigerant.
If your system is still in warranty. You may wish to consider staying with your R-22 system. The decision will have a great deal to do with your plans for the future, such as whether you plan to stay in the house and for how long.
